Ruby ore was an ore that was soon changed to Emerald Ore (this is why some call it Red Emerald), but a mod called More Ores uses the disposed-of texture and introduces rubies.
More Ores also holds a different form of Emerald.
The change likely happened because Dinnerbone, the developer at the time, was colourblind.
